OPEEP degree students are wrapping up their first semester! Midterms are done, and finals are fast approaching. Dr. Linda Mizejewski’s Feminist Perspectives on Addiction class discussed Cupcake Brown’s memoir, A Piece of Cake. Brown’s memoir focuses on her experiences with substance use, the foster care system, and how Brown was able to navigate through systemic failures throughout her life.
Dr. Rachel Schneider’s class watched Ava DuVernay’s documentary 13th for her Social Inequality course. 13th highlights intersections of race, criminalization, and America’s history with mass incarceration.
Dr. Alvaro Montenegro’s Extreme Weather and Climate course focuses student’s attention on the science behind atmospheric principles and changes. Students have been logging daily weather conditions in their weather diaries, noting different temperatures, cloud formations, and how weather conditions affect one another.
