The Autumn 2025 semester is now underway, and Project PEER is excited to welcome you all back to campus! For those of you who haven’t heard of us before or those who want to get reacquainted, we are a student organization on campus whose mission is to “Foster community and social-emotional growth through open dialogue between Ohio State students and incarcerated learners. By hosting Socratic Seminar-Style learning communities inside prison facilities, the program creates a space where diverse perspectives and lived experiences enrich everyone’s learning.”
PEER is open to all majors and is for anyone who has a passion for prison education and reform or is interested in pushing themselves to try new things. Project PEER currently has 3 main initiatives: general body meetings, Madison Correctional Institution Learning Community, and a Zine committee. Our general body meetings are open to everyone and offer a time to learn more about prison education and reform, work on our Zine, and prepare materials for the learning community. It is also an amazing space to meet new people and get involved on campus!
The Madison Correctional Institution Learning Community is a space for students who are interested in interacting with incarcerated learners. There is an application process at the beginning of each semester to be a part of the learning community. As a member of the community, you are responsible for planning lessons and engaging in discussion.
Finally, our Zine committee is another leadership opportunity open to everyone. A Zine is a “mini magazine” made up of entries from both insiders and outsiders and compiled at the end of each semester. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in interacting with incarcerated learners in a new and unique way.

*October 2nd — Outside Meeting: Emotional Readiness
