On December 2, 2024, The Ohio Prison Education Exchange Project (OPEEP) held a convening at the Ohio Reformatory for Women (ORW). This afternoon event highlighted ongoing work by Liberation at the Margins (LAM) Collective (a learning community at the facility) and introduced the new WGSS bachelor's degree cohort.
The convening provided an opportunity for LAM members and degree students to reflect on their participation in OPEEP programming, focusing on how it has shaped and (re)defined their intellectual activities and leadership practices at ORW.
Several students and LAM members were able to share their thoughts, feelings and reactions through written reflections, which they presented to the audience. There were many attendees present, including representatives from OSU administration, professors, OPEEP and ORW staff. After the completion of the presentations, everyone enjoyed a reception with snacks, discussion, and community-building.
